In order to keep the list easily accessible, it should always be recopied each time we start a new page, which happens with each post whose number ends in 1.

Before posting post #151 (or 161 or...) , please copy the list. Then add the book(s) you want to add. The poster of #151 (or...) then becomes responsible (as the only one who can edit that post) for updating the list until the thread reaches the next page.

If you need help figuring out how to do this, feel free to PM me.

If the moderators come up with a better solution, I will alter or delete this post and the note at the top of the list.

Tony,

Thanks for starting this thread.

Would it be helpful to add a note at the top of the first post stating that the updated list is now at the top of the thread's last page?

That's not necessarily true, Max, since it assumes that a page contains only 10 posts. But I have set the option to show 40 posts per page, so for me this page starts with post #121, and includes posts #131 and 141. I won't see a new page until it reaches #161 ...

I have updated the list to include John's book, mentioned in another thread.

I have not been in the habit (in the previous version of the list) of posting here every time I update the list, but if I update the list for things that have never been posted here, we may never reach post 151, when the task will pass to someone else.

Thank you for mentioning that, Brian. And thank you for not ignoring the issue.

I don't know what the best solution is. The best I can think of is that each time our list is replaced and a new updated begins, the previous updater should announce at the top of the old list that is no longer up-to-date and give the number of the post where the current list can be found.

What I know for sure is that I initially volunteered to update the list for 10 posts and when people continued to post after that, ignoring that the list was no longer being updated, and we reached a further ten posts, I jumped in again for a further 20--the ten that had been posted since I'd abdicated and the following ten. When we reach 151, I'm done.

In fact...

It occurs to me that by the time we reach post 151, the discussion (such as it is) over how best to keep the list updated will have been forgotten. Someone will post at 151 will information they expect someone else (me) to add to the list, so...

I have now updated the list (which is in post 141) with everything that has been added to the thread since Tony's post 99 (and at least one thing that hasn't otherwise appeared in this thread).

This is post 150. The next post will appear at the top of the page for those who are viewing 10 posts per page. This will make the list difficult for many viewers to find.

My suggestion is that the next person who has something to add to the list copy the list from post 141 into post 151 and there make the addition. I can help if a poster is unsure how to accomplish this.

I will no longer be updating the list.

Mario has generously put together a list elsewhere, and he seems to intend to update it, so this whole thread may now be obsolete, except as a way to point people toward Mario's list:

(To send Mario information for the list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...cBCrqc50E/edit)

Thank you, Mario!
