Congrats to Annie--and to Sphereans Chris O'Connell, Sylvia Farley, and Bill Greenwell, too, for making it into the winner's circle! Spherean Adrian Fry had an honorable mention, too. Not a bad haul for the Drills and Amusements gang.

The late John Whitworth (who was awfully good at both) used to talk about the distinction between "real poems" and "comp poems". Not always easy to define, more of an I-know-it-when-I-see-it sort of thing. My winning entry at the Spectator this week smells like a comp poem, but I think John might agree with me that Ann's is that other thing.
