Default Chris Childers Wins NEA Translation Grant

Chris Childers, who used to be a regular here, is a classicist and poet who has won an NEA Translation Grant in the amount of $12,500 to fund his translations of Greek and Latin poetry for an anthology he has been working on for a long time. Congratulations, Chris!

This is great news. Congratulations, Chris!

More about Chris' project (& those of the other winners) may be found at the link below, as can a fine photo of Mr. Childers looking debonair...

Huge congratulations to Chris, whose translations I've had the good fortune to see in draft and in print these last few years.

Thanks for posting this, Susan, and for the kind words. The first translation I ever did that was any good (Hor. 4.7) was workshopped here; later, it even earned some small praise from Richard Wilbur, also here. Recently it was taken by Kenyon, along with a few others. I assume it's out, though haven't seen it. In any event, I owe you all a lot. Many thanks to all the current and former members who helped shape my writing.

Sorry I missed this earlier, Chris, and great news. Now I can brag that I knew both you and Nick back when.
