Default It wasn't a hack this time!

Dear Sphereans,

It's devastating when we can't log in here, and you will no doubt have thought, "Here we go again,'' for the last two days, wondering if the site has been hacked, and Alex has been battling to protect our wonderful Sphere.

I'm happy to report that wasn't the problem. It was an administrative business, the result of a recent transfer of the domain names to a different company (the one Alex had used all along had jacked up their prices to the point where he couldn't afford them any more!).

This brings me to remind everyone that your financial support is needed and much appreciated. Alex doesn't ask us very often, and we benefit SO much from all his hard work, so do please respond when he next puts out a call for donations. (I know many of you already do.)

You don't even need to wait for Alex to ask. You can do it here anytime

Thanks, and all the best,
Jayne

Yes, a good job by Alex. And a good job Jayne was there to let us all know what happened. Thanks, Jayne.

I did suspect the worst... Good to hear it was just an administrative recalibration. Our space is once again secure in the Eratosphere.

It brings to mind this Joni Mitchell lyric:

Don't it always seem to go
that you don't know what you've got
til it's gone.

I knew, whatever was happening, that Alex would pull us through. Literally pull us kicking and screaming, wetting our pants, and clawing at the rug. Thanks again, Alex!
