That's right! She may sell millions of books, she may sell out theaters for her readings, she may have a very happy and fulfilling poetic career...but her work will never, NEVER meet the standards of a handful of male poets in a small, dusty corner of the Internet!
Sheesh! What a loser!

Granted, she's way too melodramatic for my personal taste, but so was Edna St. Vincent Millay.
Seriously, listen to thirty seconds of this (
Rupi Kaur).
And then to thirty seconds of this (
Edna St. Vincent Millay).
Cut from the same cloth, aren't they?
If you're into that sort of thing, buy tickets. If you're not, don't. It's not as if she's poaching an audience that would otherwise rightfully be ours.
In fact, given the widespread reluctance to include technical notes for readers who weren't English majors, lot of us here don't seem to
want an audience that doesn't already know the difference between a roundel and a rondel, anyway. So I honestly don't understand the acrimony here.
She built that audience all by herself. More power to her.
