Thank you, Michael and Michael. Both encouraging, in different ways.
Wow, Michael F., Ross Douthat's essay is stunningly perfect (and makes me consider, uncomfortably, the ways in which I've been part of the clergy-sex-scandal-fueled disunity problem in the Catholic Church, for which the burning cathedral has been such an obvious metaphor).
People who can't read his essay should either cough up $2 per week to support journalism, or clear their cookies so that their free-article tally resets. Whichever. So long as they read it.

How would you know what you are missing unless shown? You cannot. Thus I am glad for these tag teamed tweats, which together expose why I spare myself a Twitter life in no uncertain terms. It is so remote from my idea of ideal use of time or habit of nourishment; besides, my attention span is bad enough as it is. Glad to leave it to others thus. Just sayin...

What's funny to me is I didn't find them all that funny. But fair enough.

You don't need to find them funny, Erik. To each their own.
I also don't know why you need to make a show of not finding them funny.

Apologies. Just then the worst of my twitterphobia got the best of me. Nice flasher by the way. That I find funny, which is, kind of funny in itself.
Anywho... moving onwards and upwards; on the plus side, as you will agree, it cannot go but upwards onwards!

Gentlemen, I am very, very disappointed by the evident lack of respect for the cultural and religious heritage that is exemplified by the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Instead of gifs and video mockery, it would have been more appropriate to post this:
