Chris O'Carroll's poem deleted at his request as it's been accepted for publication.

Jayne

Oh Chris, have you tried Rhesus Negative,
the haemotologic champagne?
There's naught more divine than a chilled eighty nine
served straight from the vascular vein.

Peter, Good to know I'm not the only one who reckons vampires might be creatures of discriminating taste. Some of them, after all, have had centuries to refine their palates.

But I suppose one could make the countervailing argument that theirs is the ultimate fast-food diet, that they might regard the nearest available mortal throat much as a dull-witted burger-and-fries lout regards the nearest Golden Arches drive-thru.

When I cruise out at night for a snack
What I have in mind’s not a Big Mac.
...The stuff that I’m hooked
...On is warm but not cooked.
Serve it raw, serve it red for Big Drac.

To modify a children's poem I wrote about a mosquito once;

The undead are so critical.
They're always finding fault!
The one that sucked my blood today
Said, 'This could use more salt."

Chris, however refined their palates may have become, there are times when vampires can't afford to be picky:

Forget oenological tussles -
We need to develop our muscles,
So we, the undead,
Drink the white or the red,
Provided it’s full of corpuscles.
