The First Annual Rhina Espaillat Poetry Award
Submissions will open on January 1, 2021. HERE are more details.
Aaron: The link specifically states: In contrast to most other poetry competitions, Plough will not contract out judging of this award to a prominent poet. Instead, Plough’s new poetry editor A. M. Juster will select approximately twenty poems for further consideration, and then the editors will reach a consensus on the winner and the two finalists.
I am NOT organizing the competition. I don't even subscribe to Plough.

I've signed up to be notified of the opening but when I tried to subscribe to the journal to get an idea of its criteria, I found that it's only open to subscribers in the US and Canada. Does that mean entries are similarly limited?

Asking this again. I'd like to know whether I will get a fair shake. Since it will inevitably be expensive, and since my chances will drop straight to 0% the moment the judge learns my name, it would really be useful to have this information. I would prefer not to piss away money.

I'll ask again, too. Is the contest limited to residents of the US and Canada, since subscribers are?

Ann and Aaron,
I'm wondering -- out of curiosity, and not to be smart -- why you don't contact the magazine and ask them. Or is Catherine organising the competition?

I've signed up to their newsletter and note that they have a UK address but no phone number for it. I have emailed the journal and await reply.
Added: I have now found a UK phone number and will ring it on Monday, though the website still won't let me subscribe to the journal.
And yes, I had hoped Catherine would reply because it seemed like "going behind her back" somehow.

Reason: further investigation.
