Default The Night My Mother Passed Away

Another original poem, illustrated. These are for an exhibition with birds as the theme.

Default A huddle of crows

Steve,

I like the way you draw the sombre, reverent crows. They seem to be speaking and listening.

Steve.

I don't know how I missed this when it was posted, I'm sorry about that Steve. This is very moving and, to my mind, it hits the perfect ratio of showing vs telling. The crows being almost in silhouette is just perfect.

Liked this, both the poem and the drawings. You rarely see poems illustrated by the poet, so it's a pleasure to see this and for it to be of the same high standard for both words and illustrations.

Default Thanks...

Thanks, all, for your comments. They are really appreciated. My mother's birthday was last week. I took an 80 year old friend struggling with paralysis to an exhibition that I have two pieces in at the Huntington Beach Art Center. It was a special event and we ate lunch in the gallery. I made a West African Vegetable Stew, Moroccan carrot salad, and Chocolate Pavlova for dessert. It was a nice way to honor my mother. I'll attach a photo of the dessert. Once again, thanks for your comments on a poem with special meaning for me.
