For the overall look of professionalism, I want to give a small heads up here:
Quote:
At the same ti me, she has a subtle eye for landscapes and foreign vistas, from Ushuaia to (even more exotic) Poughkeepsie. As she puts it, "Some things she loves for where they are." Her poems on natural things, particularly those on birds, are alive with the rush of wings. For, though she modestly denies it, she is a poet who can "explicate the texture of the air." Poem after poem offers what she calls "fugitive vignettes" and yet, despite her ironic title, there's nothing fugitive about her verse. These beautiful poems have been made to last.
– Eric Ormsby
It's a small thing, but even small things can add to the big picture.

Having got that off my chest, I'm looking forward to holding a copy of Catherine's poetry. Her offerings on this site have always impressed me. Congrats, madame!

Thanks, Chiago, for pointing them out. They're type errors introduced by the site HTML coding tools--they've been fixed along with others I ferreted out. And, the book itself is (typographically) error-free!

Cheers,
...Alex

It's arrived, and it's a handsome book. I'm diving in. See you in a day or so.

I've been treating this book badly. I've been carrying Lines of Flight around with me for the last week or so, as it's a pleasure to keep dipping back into it. I won't list my favorite poems, because there are so many and they keep jockeying for position. Thank you, Cathy -- this is a lovely read.

Cathy--

Now that I have my copy I must congratulate you again. I had trouble not reading the whole book all at once, each poem such a thought-provoking pleasure that I didn't want to stop. Unlike Ed, I'm going to name a favorite: I keep going back to "Joy Ride," wondering how you knew my childhood (and how it resonates now) so well!

A terrific accomplishment.

Best,
Jean

I would've named 'Joy Ride,' too, with its great last line, except for 'Writ,' 'Caesura,' Fatuity,' 'To the Man on Mansfield Street,' 'When in Lourdes,' 'Matryoshka' and, oh, half a dozen other bits and pieces. Jean has it right, though. A lovely, lovely book!
