It's one of the most disturbing things about this administration, Martin. And there's a long list. An absolute dirtbag has infected the DOJ, which is shockingly horrible, and now the CDC, which is shockingly worse, christ, in the middle of a pandemic. Then, of course, there's the open racism, the fact that he's both unbelievably corrupt and a complete moron and, let's face it, should have been behind bars years ago. What is discouraging, and a sign of where we are, is that these departments are capitulating. To be complicit in how many deaths? I'm completely disgusted and the fact that Trump is down by only 8 points is an indictment of the whole fucking country.

That's pretty scary, James. I think I linked to this in a previous post, but here it is again. It's called Unity 2020, which is an alternative to the two current incompetent candidates. I found out about it recently from listening to some of Bret Weinstein's podcasts. We'll see if this campaign gets anywhere. It sounds a lot more promising than any other ideas right now.

I'll check out the link, Martin. Scary? I was thinking maybe I sugar-coated it a bit too much.

It is unbelievable, James. That after four years people still want this disgusting buffoon. It's like a terrible spell has been cast.

People who own guns: who would pump six rounds into a black man's back if he walked even a few miles from their gardens: who believe abortion (even after rape) is a sin that will lead to the mother suffering eternal punishment:

Many of these people vote for Trump.

People are already doing that. If certain people among family, friends, clients, strangers, etc, that we come in contact with are asymptomatically infected with covid-19, we are not testing. We use common sense, use proper hygiene and precautions, and are even more careful around people in higher risk-groups. It takes time and attention to hunt down every healthy unsymptomatic person; time better spent pinpointing and focusing on those that are a higher risk or in a higher risk. It is better for it to spread among people who are healthy and show no symptoms, and therefore recover more quickly. It helps establish a bigger pool of antibodies and immunity in the population via the lowest-risk group, which in turn results in less people being infected and spreading it to higher-risk groups.

Though I've read articles about scientific studies indicating asymptomatic spreading is extremely rare. Not to mention articles mentioning that spreading happens at home more than elsewhere, after being told over and over again to stay at home. Too many of these articles and "experts" have been unreliable over and over again for me to be willing to give them much weight.

When the best the other side can come up with is someone as lame as Joe Biden, and the best message that they can come up with is hardly more than "I hate Trump" and "America is racist", along with all the fake news, witchhunts, hoaxes, protests and anarchy, I think it is very believable. Trump is good for the economy, good for securing the border, good for ending America's "endless wars", and has a clear and positive message. Compare that to the disgruntled frenzied socialist wingnuts the democrats have become.

There is something called brute testing, where you test fifty people at a time. The person licks a piece of paper that costs maybe ten cents. Since it’s so cheap, you can lick ten of them in a row. If all of them are negative, then most likely you don’t have the virus. If one or more comes out positive, then you go see your doctor and get a more accurate test. If that were implemented, everybody in the entire country could be tested in a very short timespan.

If you are negative, you get a certificate that says you are negative. That way, you can present your certificate to a restaurant, let’s say, and you would be allowed to enter and eat there. If you are positive, then you would not be allowed to enter the place and must stay home and quarantine yourself for a couple of weeks. Not only would restaurants be able to stay afloat, but the virus would be eradicated in the US within a few weeks or a month.

The CDC isn’t doing that, because they want to use the most accurate test they can make. But that means it’s a much more expensive test, so far fewer people could be tested.

A simple brute test like that could take perhaps a year to develop. But that’s probably not nearly as long as trying to make a vaccine.

I heard a podcast about this topic a couple of weeks ago, and the above are the main points I remember. Here is the podcast:

The Economics of COVID Management | Glenn Loury & Laurence Kotlikoff [The Glenn Show]

Rainbow is a good call. If I was posting things this stupid on the internet, I would want to hide as well. I wish you every ounce of the despot you desire. May someone as healthy and positive as Trump fill your days and nights. To each his own.

Isn't that obvious? Of course, spreading happens at home, probably at a rate close to 100% in homes to which the virus is brought. We don't social distance at home. The question is whether we social distance enough outside the home to avoid bringing the virus there.
