Roger, I see now I was condescending and chose my words badly. Thank you for showing me.

Cathy, I apologize for my tone and my words. I didn’t hear how I sounded, not entirely. I’m sorry.

Mike, I apologize for not letting a small point slide, as I should have. I need to think about that. I’m sorry I stunk up your thread.

Mike

Michael:

I accept your gracious apology.

Mike

My reviewing style works at both explaining the work and trying to interest people in the work, so I often make unexpected comparisons. This review included comparisons to T.S. Eliot, Alanis Morrissette, Billy Collins, E.A. Robinson & Thom Gunn. My intent with the Mary Oliver reference was only to flag that Campo's approach to nature poems is the opposite of Oliver's, and for me it was a sign of respect to make Oliver the standard for comparison.

While I freely admit that Mary Oliver was never on my personal "top ten" list, I did discuss her legacy respectfully and at length shortly after her death: https://shows.pippa.io/libromania/ep...ison-backous-t

Mike, I appreciate your reply. You were also gracious, when you did not need to be.

I really enjoyed the podcast on MO; I found it thoughtful and balanced. Maybe one day I’ll start a thread on MO and why some of her work sticks with me. If so, I’d welcome your thoughts.

Back to your reviews! Thanks again for the notices.

Mike
