Default Does John Kelly have a reputation left to damage?

I ask in all honesty.
He was caught lying about that Florida Democratic congresswoman and refused to apologize. OK. Now he's apparently been caught lying again, about when he learned Rob Porter was a spousal abuser. Was it months ago, or last Tuesday? Then, say his staffers, he held a staff meeting telling his employees to back him up in the lie he was telling. They immediately went to the Washington Post.
To conclude. C'est pire qu'un crime, c'est une faute, said Talleyrand about the murder of the Duc d'Enghien. Kelly may be a bald-faced liar, that's life in Trump world. But his staff evidently despise him. That can't be good for the smooth running of the White House.

I thought he was the one whose integrity was supposed to be giving Trump some credibility. So much for that.

Very true. It's a sad end to a long, distinguished military career. But Trump, like a sort of anti-Midas, has the gift of turning everything that touches him to excrement. This won't be the first time.

Curiously, both these stories involve women speaking up and John Kelly evidently not being interested.

John
This strikes me as the story right here.

It reminds me of W's project to destroy the reputations of GOP moderates, like Christine Todd Whitman and Colin Powell.

It also seems that he continued giving Porter classified documents after January 15, when Porter's temporary security clearance expired. If that's so, he is guilty of criminal conduct. (Admittedly, not as bad as having a private email server).

Roger: "If that's so, he is guilty of criminal conduct."
And the Republican Senate and House will be right on that after their spine transplant.
Also, I hadn't known he ran Guantanamo Bay.

Cheers,
John

On spines, here's Winston Churchill: I remember when I was a child, being taken to the celebrated Barnum's Circus, which contained an exhibition of freaks and monstrosities, but the exhibit on the programme which I most desired to see was the one described as "The Boneless Wonder". My parents judged that the spectacle would be too demoralising and revolting for my youthful eye and I have waited fifty years, to see the The Boneless Wonder sitting on the Treasury Bench.
