I have to say that I've been tired, bone tired of America for a long time. The economy, if it can be dictated by a president at all, is the long game. There's a delay, um, to say the least. There's a fairly consistent, mathematical, line showing where we are from Obama's presidency, out of the recession, to where we are now. That this moron decides it's a good idea to sell the furniture too, is criminal. Speaking of criminal, Mueller should be showing up soon. Money laundering, whether or not official collusion with Russia is found~ I suspect it's close (gimme vegas odds), is a certainty. He's a dirt bag, and this is going to get nasty.

It seems Trump has had "Enough" of Sessions, now that Trump's more sure that the replacement's nomination will be confirmed by a Senate more dominated by Republicans who owe their seats to Trump's popularity in their districts. (In January, Republican critics of Trump will be fewer and farther between in the Senate.)

Also, Rosenstein is no longer overseeing the Russia probe. That will be overseen by the new Acting Attorney General, Matthew Whitaker, who wrote an op-ed piece titled "Mueller's investigation of Trump is going too far".

Ooooookay.

Not to be an optimist in the age of bumble fuck, but I'd wait for this forthcoming report. It's possible that Trump won't be implicated, I suppose. But I doubt it. I'm sorry, but he's just too dumb and corrupt. One or the other, you know, but you can't be both. Re the midterms, this wasn't some grand plan he hatched to rally his base. He's a racist. Unfortunately, too many Americans, erm, United States citizens, identify with that.

I like Julie's bead on things in #111.

Yes, a crack of light.
Lots of light, actually. Women are making gains. Republican strongholds are eroding (Florida, Texas, Wisconsin), the governor of Colorado is also a gay man (Colorado is where that holy baker refused to make a cake for a gay couple for their wedding on religious grounds) and young blood is beginning to infuse itself into the political/public discourse.

One thing overlooked is that Mitt Romney is back as senator from Utah. With any luck he will fill the shoes of John McCain and be a thorn in Donald's side. He makes me nostalgic for the days when we were incredulous when Romney insisted that corporations where people, too. Those were the days.
