Another semifinal...
Hi folks,
For what it's worth, another MS. of mine has made it to semifinalist again in another competition: Carrying Charlotte, with the 19th annual poetry award from Elixir Press out of Denver. It's a very bleak MS., truth be told, so I'm happy they liked it. One day, I hope to move on from bridesmaid. :-)
Cheers,
John

Congratulations, John. Bleak is perennially in fashion in contemporary poetry, so you may have a shot. If there is one thing that would be the kiss of death, it would be to be upbeat.

Well done John. I don't normally stray into this neck of the woods, but congratulations.
Is Carrying Charlotte a themed thing? (Bring us your bleakest manuscripts!) Well done anyway.

Good evening Susan, David, Allen,
And thank you for your thoughts.
Susan - you are undoubtedly right! And the MS. is certainly bleak. I should resubmit it. David - most of my MSS are themed as best I can manage, and that one is where I put all my depressing stuff to live and propagate together. :-) Allen - I agree!
Cheers all,
John

Congratulations, John.
P.S. Looks like an interesting competition this one, I take it. C'est dommage ça : that they should mention the finalists and not the semifinalists that they have.

Thank you, Erik! I don't really expect them to mention the also-rans, but I did appreciate receiving my bridesmaid's email. I've grown somewhat used to them.
Cheers,
John

Congratulations John,
I know the feeling always being the bridesmaid, but keep up the good work. Just putting together a manuscript of poems that can get that far I see a wonderful accomplishment – I'm serious. I join with the others above in applauding you.
