Yes, no doubt about it -- I had meant to agree that Eric's James Merrill poem is second-hand euphoria at best if there is even such a thing (sorry Eric).
The "blessed blaze" you posted (Yeats' Vacillation) conveys a true, transcendent euphoria IMO.

Music is very good at evoking the big E...
We could go there...
This is a remarkable performance; one that sends me to the brink.

Ok, I am guilty as charged of having posted not a 'classic' example of euphoria. I never meant to post a classic example but to add an unexpected one. So what can I say? Sorry.

Nothing to apologize for, Erik. (But if apologizing gives you euphoria, then go for it).

Default Redunnit Bigly!

Thanks, Jim. I did a major overhaul and it will be on The New Verse News tomorrow! That is, Sunday.

Hi Ralph, very good. The Obama years were heady. Nowadays just mind-blowing.

Since the start of this thread I've realized that euphoria appears to be in the eye of the beholder. I had always thought it to be something of a holy grail. Something nearly empirical. I still do.

I think Erik's post was the "flipside" of one of mine, way back in the thread. "Euphoria You Have Known" seems to invite an element of retrospect.

However...

The Third Day of Yogurt.

Today is the Third Day of Yogurt and I am glad.
I have taken the pot from the refrigerator.
Twice prior to this I have scooped out a third of it
To plop on the muesli and fruit in the china dish
And put the pot back. But today it is the Third Day
And so I will add the muesli and fruit to the pot.
I shall find a spoon and run it under the hot tap.
Then I shall dip the hot spoon into the cold yogurt
And hold it between my tongue and the roof of my mouth,
Enjoying the way the cold and hot sort themselves out.
I will eat from the pot the fruit, yogurt and muesli
Then drop it so that the waiting dog can deal with it.
There will be no washing-up, for I shall lick the spoon.

(I am happy to acknowledge the influence of Jacques Prévert.)
