Well, Janet, it looks like Lo was right - there are some things you will go to war over.

In Oz, all us Baby-Boomers grew up with this radio ditty:

The Vegemite Song

We're happy little Vegemites
As bright as bright can be.
We all enjoy our Vegemite
For breakfast, lunch, and tea.
Our mother says we're growing
stronger every single week
Because we love our Vegemite
We all adore our Vegemite.
It puts a rose in every cheek!

=======

Don't cha want rosy cheeks over there?

Sounds like they better start eating more Vegemite.

Never had the stuff, never seen the stuff, and I don't even know how to pronounce it!

What's this evil ingredient it's supposed to have in it?

Heh-heh. That explains a lot about you weird people. Ours was:

Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner
that is what I truly want to be
'cause if I were an Oscar Meyer weiner
everyone would be in love with me!

A question to all the Australians--

How could something called "Vegemite" not taste like ass?

And why do you want rosy cheeks? Janet lives in a jungle, for the sake of sweet baby Jesus! And most of the country is desert. I mean, I've seen The Thorn Birds. It ain't natural.

Quincy,
A sign says you're here but I can't see you.
Janet

AH! There you are

Actually I'm an orange juice and fresh fruit muesli breakfaster but the fact that Vegemite tastes like ass is why we like it.

"Thornbirds"? Wash your mouth out!

Carol,
Vegemite, a yeast extract, looks like sump oil and tastes a bit like soy sauce only rounder. It's thick and gooey and is spread very thinly on hot buttered toast (preferably wholemeal/grain). It's full of thiamin and niacin and other excellent things. It's what they used to call savory. Like Marmite, if you know that, only not nearly as salty and so rather superior in its line of work. Australian children (and New Zealanders) went to school with sandwiches containing cheese and vegemite and lettuce. Australians can't understand why non-Australians clutch their throats and retch when offered this delicious preparation. Some desperate people dilute a teaspoonful in hot water and drink it. It's ethnic.

Janet,

I loved Vegemite when I was in Australia. I can't understand why it would be banned here.

It must be because of our stupid Republican administration. It’s gotta be Bush.

I’ve heard that Vegemite makes people that eat it smart. Everyone knows that Republicans are a little—well let’s call it “slow”. Any thing that might make them smarter is, of course—banned.

Bobby
