Thanks for the Onion link, Quincy--it drew me on to read about Spain's new Armada aimed at the New World, and the ban on evolution in Kansas...great stuff!

Regards, Maz

Yes, cute. I've taught The Frogs, The Clouds, The Lysistrata and they are hilarious. But, alas, today we have Will Farrel forgetting to put his pants on for a news broadcast and Jim Carrie's facial contortations (not that Carrie is not occasionally funny), and that's the substance of our humor. Nothing to compare to Hercules telling a pink-robed Bacchus how to get to hell or Socrates holding court at his "Thinkery."

OK Quincy--I made the connection

You know what it is? It's these young people, they don't have the attention spans audiences used to. Try getting one of them to sit through a five-day festival of Dionysus. I guarantee the little punk will be squirming in his seat and checking his computerized text messages before the end of Day One, and that's in the middle of a Bacchic frenzy. They all want the same thing: stale jokes from some untutored hack—not the kind of serious stuff that's performed outdoors with a full masked chorus and lasts an entire afternoon.

"The Onion" is a delight. I keep forgetting about it.

Janet
