New York poet Joshua Mehigan and Powow member Mildred Nash - both of whom many of us may know from WCU - are featured at the March 21 Powow River Poets reading.
The reading starts at 7:30 PM, Newburyport Art Association Gallery, 65 Water Street, Newburyport, MA,
www.newburyportart.org and is followed by an Open Mike.
Josh Mehigan was awarded the Hollis Summers Poetry Prize for his first book of poems,
The Optimist (Ohio Univ. Press, 2004), which was subsequently named one of the top ten university press books of the year by
Foreword Magazine. His poems, translations and critical articles have appeared in
Poetry, The New York Times, The New York Sun, Poetry Daily, Ploughshares, The Cortland Review and other journals and anthologies; he was named a 2005 Pushcart Poetry Prize winner, and was the 2004 recipient of the Dogwood Poetry Prize.
Mildred Nash, a Burlington, MA resident, is the author of
Beyond Their Dreams (Pocahontas Press, 1989). Her poems have also appeared in
Yankee Magazine, The Beloit Poetry Journal, The Formalist, Iambs & Trochees, The California Quarterly and Light Quarterly, among others.
