Dear Erastophereans,
I'm delighted to announce the grand opening of the free verse version of our popular Musing on Mastery forum, & even more delighted to announce that Dorianne Laux will be moderating this forum. As the forum description states, this is where Dorianne & the members who are up to it will post, discuss or critique the free verse poetry of the masters & the not-so-masterly, from the classic to the post post-modern.
Most of you who are already familiar with Dorianne's work will agree that we're very lucky to have her:
She is the author of three collections of poetry from BOA Editions, Awake (1990), introduced by Philip Levine, What We Carry (1994), finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and Smoke (2000). She is also co-author, with Kim Addonizio, of The Poet's Companion: A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry (W.W. Norton, 1997). Recent work has appeared in The Best American Poetry, The American Poetry Review, Shenandoah, and Ploughshares. Among her awards are a Pushcart Prize for poetry, two fellowships from The National Endowment for the Arts and a Guggenheim Fellowship. Laux is an Associate Professor and works at the University of OregonUs Program in Creative Writing.
So everyone, let's give a hearty Eratosphere welcome to Dorianne!
Cheers,
...Alex
