I think it is best that in view of my behavior the last few days, that I resign as your poet lariat. My resignation follows those of Sullivan, Espaillat, and Watkins. I hope it doesn't precede that of others, many of whom I recruited. Carol, a personal apology: I just can't take this anymore. I marvel that you can. Timothy

Well man, that sucks. But do what you have to do. I hope you stick around and continue to post your own poems and tell us when ours are good and yell at us when we should be doing better. It was an extraordinary good fortune for me to stumble onto this website, thanks in no small part to you. Take care of yourself. Stay cool.

Tim, it's difficult to know what to say. On the one hand, if you feel you need respite from all the work you've been doing here, you should take it.
On the other, it's instructive and meaningful to have you as a mod. I hope you'll make the right decision, and so will postpone any good wishes till later (and in private) hoping that, in any case, you'll be on the scene often. One can't second-guess people's needs, and mod burnout is no joke. "Go slowly," as they say you-know-where.

No dammit. Just plain no! This resignation is not accepted.
And that's final.

Tim, consider it a sabbatical. We must all accept that you are going to have these broad swings as you right yourself during recovery. In my experience, these early stages are tantamount to grieving. Take the time you need but with the aims of learning to forbear with your own humanity, and of coming back renewed and ready to hit the line afresh. We need you.

Jim, that's been the reaction of a number of folks who have kindly and forgivingly pm or emailed. I have no intention of leaving the Sphere. I just don't think I should be entrusted with any authority around here. Let me think about it.

Hell Timmo, you're The Murphy- your authority answers to no one, you inherited it, you weren't asked did you want it, it's not yours to give away.
You die with it.

I'm delighted to say that Tim has withdrawn his resignation by popular demand and mine. Tim's been under some personal pressures lately which have had an impact on his participation, but members have convinced him that this just wouldn't be the same place without our beloved Poet Lariat.
