I just wanted to note my approval of Edward Mendelson's new Auden biography, Later Auden (surprisingly, the sequel to his also excellent Early Auden). It's well-written, scholarly (caught just one error in over 500 pages) and integrates the life, poetry and prose in a magnificent way no other biographer has done. I think he may have cheated Auden of his eccentricities a bit--features which often illuminate his genius--but that is a minor pick. Go read it.
