WRITE YOUR OWN COUPLET TO COMPLETE THE STORY:
I rarely lose my taste for lies and pain,
my lust for gold and sex, my thirst for booze
that kills, some say, the cells within my brain,
but others say it helps--and so I cruise.
I like to be abroad--that's what I am,
but broad is not the shape I want to be.
At seventeen I left for Amsterdam
and Holland's hippie hospitality.
On winter days I glided down canals,
without the skates, of course - afloat on hash
I earned my pricks like other junky gals
I'm pretty, so I built up quite a stash.
I am the Queen of Diamonds and my joy
is watching snowbirds fly from Illinois.

Sorry I just had to do this one--
I rarely lose my taste for lies and pain,
my lust for gold and sex, my thirst for booze
that kills, some say, the cells within my brain,
but others say it helps--and so I cruise.
I like to be abroad--that's what I am,
but broad is not the shape I want to be.

and Holland's hippie hospitality.
On winter days I glided down canals,
without the skates, of course - afloat on hash
I earned my pricks like other junky gals
I'm pretty, so I built up quite a stash.
A man by birth, sharp knife, a slit by cut
No puller nothing works Oh! happy slut.
(I was sure Roy would see this outcome while reading-- Be abroad)

Henrietta,
You've definitely managed to turn the story into a very different and interesting end. I hadn't thought of that in the "broad" sense I admit, I think poetry games are a lot of fun. I'm always the one who wants to keep on playing when everyone has left the scene. Maybe someone else will join in this thread. BTW, were you by any chance named after one of the famous Henrys such as Henry the VIII ?

Very Close-- I was named after my father who was a from a long line of John Henry’s the first one being the eldest from the wrong side of his Mother bedsheet was sent away, his half sisters inherited the castle and estates born after she was married off to title.
And it was generations later my father was informed that he and all his kin was in fact due a substantial amount, if they could all be found- HA! that was about 1945 it was all locked up in treasury for another 50 years-- to give us time-
that ran out years ago- far as I know it has reverted to the queen.
But I was the first one to carry on the name as required (In my generation)in Lady Margaret’s will- she was rich in her own right—
we found that much out about the name-- in fact I was sitting on my mothers lap not even 2 years old at the time.
I like my middle name very much. My baby brother got not only fathers name but my mother's two brothers names as well-- poor bugger--
My sister proudly looked up her husbands line—and found way back in the 15th century his forbear was a shit-kicker to the kings horse. A very trusted job indeed. ~~ Henie

I admit Joan, I was too focused on Anne's couplet to think about that aspect. I tried to use a female voice but guys tend to avoid anything involving sharp instruments in that regard. At least the guys I hang around with anyway!

the surface smooth until it fell apart.

So should I need a heart transplant make sure
I get it from someone who's heart's as pure.

"More pricks than kicks"? Poor Beckett got it wrong--
he ought to have thought better of his shlong.
