I recently (wrongly) hijacked a thread with a kinda tribute to Michael Cantor's crit style. Thought maybe others would be interested in doing the same with a spherian of their choice. Here's mine--
For Michael Cantor
I appreciate your candor
and the way you never pander
to the kings and queens of meter, line, and rhyme.
Mister call `em as you see `em;
you’re no Tonto, me agree`em.
You’ll unmask the Kemosabi anytime.
You’ll embrace the deft beginner
if by chance they write a winner,
though you’re prone to grease the ladder as they climb.
Both, your nits and praise are flavored
bold and hot, they must be savored
mentally-the bite of chilies, salt and lime.
Though you make some people nervous,
you’re providing them a service
at a bargain, your 2 cents is worth a dime.

Michael Cantor is a pussy cat, why would he make people nervous?
Maybe it’s his shining dome
that radiates with light
His infinitesimal quality’s’
his hanging out for royalty
Lets not forget his piety
when rhyming, not always quietly
and then there is his bark:
fresh moss on it, his southern side
warm sap that’s on the rise
and wood peckers who tend to tap
make hollows; ever widening gap
that grows before round eyes
and then before the screen is cleared
He’s boxed a newbie in both ears
to rounds of claps and howling cheers
his shout-- did we hear beers?

Donna, I'm loving it.
And I second the motion cause there is no way I can approach a text like yours.

Henrietta nice one! Janice thanks!
Here's one for Lo
Our Mrs. Heidy-Halberstein
will save your ass or crack your spine.
She’s in your face or got your back,
protecting mice when cats attack.
Her strong positions, fast opined,
strike with force and charm combined.
She fans the flames then stirs the pot.
But that‘s okay, we like it hot!

Tim Crit
I have reservations,
use my alterations.
I know what I’m doing,
I’m constantly spewing
out stuff that gets taken.
(I’m gay like Clay Aiken)
You’re gifted, I’ll guide you.
I’ll show you a whose who
of talented poets
who’ll love you, and know it’s
because of me.

Oh I cant let you away with Tim--
Tim the thinkers poet
Tiny Tim was feeling thin
So he went and shot a duck
He plucked it then said phuc it
I was aiming for the drake
So he stuffed it in a po-em
Determined he would show-em
And his fame, well, it was growin
Thick and thin.
So he took to going fishing
On a boat out on the lake
in his head he started seeing
imagined simies he could make
ah! the hooks on all his openings
and great verses he was hoping
he would surpass all buggers at it
no mistake.
~~late for work~~ henie
