The recent talk about the Bubba vote inspired this. Anyone else want to to contribute their take on the election?

Race to the White House

Save our country, folks!
Time to take some action.
Join us in our fight, our cause is clear:

Keep the White House white!
Bubba, come cross over,
for Jesus and America, ya hear.

Spread these words around:
Black, Elitist, Muslim.
Support our race! Now, get your butt in gear.

Vote the Grand Old Party--
make sure your brain don’t override your fear.

Call it Lunch

We entertained each other in hip cabarets
putting lipstick on pigs and other such stunts—
our antics fell short of morality plays,

but they made us feel better while counting the days.
We made jokes about guns and impregnated runts,
entertained each other in hip cabarets.

Our energies flowed in predicable ways,
lampooning the “dimwits” on caribou hunts.
These antics fell short of morality plays.

Our superiority baked in soufflés
was served to ourselves. We were Fontannes and Lunts
entertaining each other at hip cabarets

at the expense of the “racist buffoons”. We would blaze
few new trails and develop no fronts
(our antics fell short of morality plays)

but we held the high ground, whereon, in a phrase,
the so-called Cro-Magnons were eating our lunch.
We entertained each other in hip cabarets,
though our antics fell sort of morality plays.

Sevenling (I watch the nuances)

I watch the nuances of sunrise,
hear its thoughtful melodies,
learn the logic of the earth turning.

I cringe at the glare of searchlights,
the black and white anger of silhouettes,
the crazy chest beating of failed warriors.

Can you guess who I'm voting for?

Our American elections
have become like never-ending erections:
politics on steroids,
voters on Viagra.

Presidents and Congressmen have kept
our collective heads spinning
with talk of smoking guns
in the form of mushroom clouds.
And as if that weren't shocking enough,
they've now turned to using economic terror.

Washington D.C. is a beast that needs sterilizing.

Check out the poetry of Sarah Palin on Slate:

Also, a NY Times blog calls for light poetry about the campaign, Biden in particular.

Mr/s Big Shot

Bought myself some higheels
think'd look good with the Salvation Army
Suit I keep in the closet for special occasions.
Damn right, I’m makin it to the d’bate right after the kids
Get back home from hockey.
Little woman loves them shoes.
Honey, don’t forget ta'turn'a light off
When that livein husband of yours
come pick up'd baby.
Oh, and-- don't forget ta'take your gun.

Idling

It’s served your way;
fast, hot, and greasy.
Nuggets and patties,
small hot potatoes, sugary shakes, icy pop,
salt and condiments to disguise
the taste you’ve taught the kids to like.

The line is long tonight, and you’re running late.
You glance at your watch and the gas gauge
while the car idles. You mumble
curses for your ten minute wait
because Idol is on tonight
and America is voting someone out.

How true, Donna. I esp. like how you've got us waiting longer than expected for our fast food.

Trying again...

McCain Reassures Voters About Obama

Obama's not a terrorist,
he doesn't beat his wife,
he didn't really kill his mother
with a butcher knife,

he's not a Satan worshipper,
he's not a pedophile -
I can't imagine where you heard
those awful rumors! *smile*

Rose,

Very good. That's about the size of it.
