New Moderator Announcement
Dear Eratosphereans,
I’m delighted to announce our newest moderator for the Translation forum. Drum rolls for Adam Elgar! He’ll be replacing Marion Shore to whom I’m grateful for her moderating and other contributions to the Sphere. Adam is already a regular contributor of translations and critique on this forum and I know that he’s ready to do it now with moderator gusto. Adam has already garnered notable accomplishements as shown in his bio:
Adam Elgar lives in Bristol, England. He is married and has two grown up daughters. He works in and around education, when not struggling to write poetry and trying to improve his amateur Italian and French. His poems turn up here and there on the web, and in his chapbook, Temporali (Lopside Press). Carole Satyamurti and Pascale Petit say nice things about them. He is finding his time increasingly taken up with translation projects that are good for the neurons, but do nothing for the bank balance. But now’s a bad time for anything concerning banks. Please join me in extending a hearty Eratosphere welcome to Adam!
Cheers,
…Alex

Welcome and thank you Adam. I sometimes dabble in Italian translation. I haven't had space in my life recently but I hope to return to translation as soon as possible. I have greatly appreciated your contributions.

Welcome Adam, Translations is something special, as you well know, erudite and polite, is how I think of it. It will profit by your moderatorship, I have no doubt.
I want to say too, that I will miss Marion who embodies these qualities in her own person. I hope you will not be a stranger to the Translations forum, Marion, even though you are stepping down.

Thank you everyone. Your welcome is very much appreciated by a nervous moderatorial novice. How did Alex talk me into this?
I very much hope that the many talented linguists in the other forums (such as Janet) will bring translations over there. We are a highly civilised bunch of wild-eyed fanatics, and don't (often) bite. Viva Erato!

Thanks, Duncan and Seree.
With all the languages you have between you, it'll be great to see you over there.
All good wishes
