Since his retirement from university teaching, Michael Cohen has been writing personal essays. Almost two dozen of these, including “The Place Where It Happened,” have just been collected in A Place to Read: Life and Books, published by Interactive Publications in Brisbane. He is the author of five other books, including an introductory poetry text, The Poem in Question (Harcourt Brace, 1983); an award-winning book on Shakespeare’s Hamlet (Georgia, 1989); and a book about mystery fiction, Murder Most Fair (Associated University Presses, 2000). He lives in Murray, Kentucky, and Tucson, Arizona.
