Heaven’s Teeth

        “Ghazal 50”
 

How awful to see Heaven’s teeth circling the finger
of those who deserved pearls to string their finger.

My souvenir of you is that you didn’t give me one:
the day you left me you raised a ringless finger.

Asad, when I write hot words out of heartfire
no one can give the words I sing the finger.

Ghazal 50

افسوس کہ دنداں کا کیا رزق فلک نے
جن لوگوں کی تھی در خورِ عقدِ گہر انگشت

کافی ہے نشانی ترا چھلّے کا نہ دینا
خالی مجھے دکھلا کے بہ وقتِ سفر انگشت

لکھتا ہوں اسد سوزشِ دل سے سخنِ گرم
تا رکھ نہ سکے کوئی مرے حرف پر انگشت
