            burrows—

            these grassland and desert owls
            with legs like stilts:
            standing, surveying
            the flat land around them
            for beetles, scorpions, and other food.

        In and out of

          shape
          humor
          tune.

            Busy squatters inhabiting
            abandoned holes of . . .
