Susan McLean

Susan McLean has published two books of poetry, The Best Disguise (winner of the Richard Wilbur Award) and The Whetstone Misses the Knife (winner of the Donald Justice Poetry Prize). Her book of translations of Latin poems by Martial, Selected Epigrams, was a finalist for the PEN Center USA Translation Award. Her translations of Rilke have appeared in Subtropics, Measure, Transference, Think Journal, and elsewhere. She is professor emerita of English at Southwest Minnesota State University and lives in Iowa City, Iowa.

 

 

Rainer Maria Rilke

Rainer Maria Rilke (1875 – 1926), born René Karl Wilhelm Johann Josef Maria Rilke, understood the power of words. At a lover’s urging, he changed his name to Rainer, which he thought sounded more masculine. He is probably the best-known twentieth-century German-language poet, best known for his Duino Elegies, his Sonnets to Orpheus, and his New Poems. In the Duino Elegies—his most important work—and his other poems, Rilke combined knowledge of classical literature with a mystical sense of existence and religion.

 

Barbara Lydecker Crane

Barbara Lydecker Crane was a finalist for the Rattle Poetry Prize in 2017 and 2019. She has won two Laureate’s Choice awards in the Maria Faust Sonnet Contest and First Prize in the 2010 Helen Schaible Sonnet Contest. She has published three chapbooks: Zero Gravitas (White Violet Press, 2012), Alphabetricks (Daffydowndilly Press, 2013),and BackWords Logic (Local Gems Press, 2017).

 

Vera Ignatowitsch

Vera Ignatowitsch is addicted to poetry, raspberries, and the occasional good scotch. Her poems have been published inthe Lyric, San Pedro River Review, the Road Not Taken, Peacock Journal, the American Journal of Poetry, the Orchards Poetry Journal, Asses of Parnassus, and elsewhere. She is editor-in-chief of Better Than Starbucks poetry journal.

 

 

Catharine Savage Brosman

Catharine Savage Brosman, known widely for her poetry, criticism, and creative prose, is Professor Emerita of French at Tulane University. Her latest poetry collections are A Memory of Manaus (2017) and Chained Tree, Chained Owls (2020). Short fiction of hers appeared in 2019 under the title An Aesthetic Education and Other Stories. Many of these stories are set in New Orleans, others in the Four Corners area and Europe.

 

Bruce Bennett

Bruce Bennett is the author of ten full-length collections of poetry and more than thirty poetry chapbooks. His most recent book is Just Another Day in Just Our Town: Poems New And Selected, 2000-2016 (Orchises Press, 2017). He taught English and American Literature and Creative Writing and directed the Visiting Writers Series at Wells College from 1973 until his retirement in 2014, and is now Emeritus Professor of English. In 2012 he was awarded a Pushcart Prize.

 

 

Anna M. Evans

Anna M. Evans’s poems have appeared in the Harvard Review, Atlanta Review, Rattle, American Arts Quarterly, and 32 Poems. She gained her MFA from Bennington College. Recipient of Fellowships from the MacDowell Artists’ Colony and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and winner of the 2012 Rattle Poetry Prize Readers’ Choice Award, she currently teaches at West Windsor Art Center and Rowan College at Burlington County.

 

Elise Hempel

Elise Hempel grew up in suburban Chicago and has worked as an editor, proofreader, copywriter, columnist, and university English instructor. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals over the years, including Poetry, Measure, Southern Poetry Review, Tar River Poetry, and the Midwest Quarterly, as well as in Verse Daily, Poetry Daily, and Ted Kooser’s American Life in Poetry.

 

Anne Delana Reeves

Anne Delana Reeves is a poet and essayist. Her work appears in Cimarron Review, Crab Orchard Review, Valparaiso Poetry Review, Image, Antioch Review, New Madrid, Chapter 16, The Southern Poetry Anthology IV: Tennessee, and Nasty Women Poets: An Unapologetic Anthology of Subversive Verse. In addition, Each Fugitive Moment: Essays, Memoirs, and Elegies on Lynda Hull, edited with poet Diann Blakely, is forthcoming from MadHat Press.
