Last Minute Contest!
A friend of mine just put me on to this:
http://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2...ts-to-arcadia/
This is a contest for a couplet on the subject "Does Carnal Embrace Addle the Brain?" Does that sound like a Sphere winner or what?
And you can read all the entries (72) right there...
Only, it will be judged TOMORROW, so act now!

I planned to be witty and lewd
but the time's up, we're already screwed.
Frank
A shame, too. Half the entrants (these can't be them, surely) don't seem to know what a couplet is. Whitworth's Army would've gone through this one like crap through a goose (sorry, I watched Patton for Memorial Day).

Thanks for the link. I just posted one, though since today is the day they say the winner will be announced, I'm not sure if the deadline has passed.

I submitted something hopefully on time. The best I could do last minute and at work.

I just got an email that I'm a runner up. They're going to send me a Paris Review tee shirt!
I posted a few couplets and I don't know which got me the tee. I'm pretty sure it was one I posted under the name Kay Nine, but I don't know which.
Thanks, Gail, for the heads up.
I'm happy I didn't win the tickets, since I think I saw that play years ago and it was horrible.

Good lord, it's a good thing Gail waited until the last minute. My computer would have exploded if Whitworth's Warriors had had more than one day.
Good going from all of you. Congrats Roger.

Whitworth's Warriers? I like it, though we're actually quite a peaceful bunch.
Many of the warriers posted better stuff than what won, but I won't refuse the tee in protest. I just hope I receive it before they hire a new editor who wishes to leave his own editorial imprint on the contest and therefore rescinds the results and denies me my prize.
PS-- The winners are here: http://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2...have-a-winner/
