Poet Anton Yakovlev Featured at Season Opener

Of Frost Farm’s Hyla Brook Reading Series

DERRY, NH, May 15, 2016 – The Robert Frost Farm’s 2016 Hyla Brook Reading Series, now in its 8th season, kicks off this Thursday, May 19, 2016, 6:30-8:30pm with New Jersey-based poet Anton Yakovlev, along with Hyla Brook Poet and Chester resident Midge Goldberg.

The series, held in the Frost Farm located at 122 Rockingham Rd (Rt 28), is free and open to the public. An Open Mic follows the readings and all audience members are invited to share their work.

Originally from Moscow, Russia, Yakovlev lives in Ridgewood, New Jersey and works as a college textbook editor. He studied filmmaking and poetry at Harvard University. His work is published or forthcoming in The New Yorker, Fulcrum, American Arts Quarterly, Measure, The Raintown Review, The New Verse News and elsewhere. He is the author of two chapbooks.

Goldberg, recently featured on New Hampshire Public Radio, will read from her new collection, Snowman’s Code, winner of the 2015 Richard Wilbur Award, and other work.

The event launches this year's series of nationally acclaimed poets reading in the intimate setting of Robert Frost’s barn. The season also features appearances by Timothy Steele (June 17), New Hampshire Poet Laureate Alice Fogel (July 14), Melissa Balmain (Aug. 11), and Johnny Longfellow (Sept. 8).

The June reading highlights the winner of the Annual Frost Farm Prize for metrical poetry, and is the kick off event for the 2nd Annual Frost Farm Poetry Conference on June 17-19, 2016. Limited spots are available for the conference.

Starting in May, the Hyla Brook Poets’ monthly writing workshop will meet on the third Saturday of the month at 10am at its summer home at the Frost Farm.
