For humorous lyrics in our time, only the underappreciated Richard Thompson and the most inspired bits of The Roches are close.

Friendly amendment accepted--even though moving "our time" that far back makes me feel old.

At the Poetry-by-the-Sea conference I gave him tops all-time in this category (including Cole Porter).

Anna, I've been following Poetry by the Sea avidly on Facebook, and thinking how fantastic it all sounded. I dearly want to go, but can't be sure (again!). Just got a full-time teaching job (after fours of scrambling part-time) so it might be even harder to get away next year. I'll have to wait and see. Meanwhile, huge congrats to you and Kim for a second successful year!
