The Classical Outlook just accepted my translations of Catullus' poem 101, Horace's Odes 1.11, and Martial's epigrams 3.18, 5.32, and 5.33. They are supposed to come out in the Winter 2008 issue. Slant accepted my sonnet "Dark Shadows," workshopped here.

I remember reading -- and loving -- "Dark Shadows." Congrats on finding such a good home for it, and your translations too.

Not a bad February, I'd say. Congrats.

Though it was delightful to receive two acceptances on consecutive days, I had waited a year to hear from The Classical Outlook. I did receive an apology for the long wait and a promise that it wouldn't happen again. But I have had some extremely long waits at other journals as well, such as The Hudson Review (eight months and counting). Given that I do not simultaneously submit, I find such long waits annoying, and I am losing patience with journals that subject authors to them.

Susan, that's good to know about Hudson Review. I sent them a submission months ago and was thinking, "At least they could have the courtesy to send a rejection slip--I did include a SASE." So maybe they're still considering.
