This is only the beginning, I am sure. It is going to get lots of inter-talk.

Quote:
relies solely on brevity, rhyme, and cynical wit to tell an eloquent story not just in four parts, but in four words. In fact, Balmain’s poetry could be characterized as equal parts Dorothy Parker, Alexander Pope and Tom Lehrer.
But is totally Melissa Balmain--the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Delightful reviews. I particularly liked the one by Franzen, in Quadrapheme.

Alex Pepple said he'd sold every copy of Walking in on People he brought to WCU well before the conference ended, so it seems a number of folk agree with these fine reviews. Perhaps there's some life left in light verse, after all -- if it's done well enough, at least. It's an extremely funny book, and deserves the fanfare it's getting.

Best,

Ed

Belated thanks, everyone! (And Ed, with help from you and Light's other fine contributors--several of them in this thread alone--light verse is looking healthier all the time.)
