Default Not Quite Halloween, But

has anyone seen Let Me In? A remake of the Swedish film Let The Right One In. Never watched the original, but both are slightly different takes (from what I hear) on the same book. The American version was surprisingly good, and from a director who's basically done crapola (Planet of the Apes etc etc). It's for sure one of the best movies I've seen in the last few years.

It's one of my favorite movies of the last few years as well...and also one of John Whitworth's, as it happens. He and I had a PM exchange about it a few years ago. I would go so far as to call it one of my favorite movies, period.

I enjoy the Swedish original as well, but I really think the remake hit a few notes that the initial version missed.

Oh God, Shaun, I'd like to do my official movie rankings, but that's hard to do. If pushed to it, it may well make my top 25. It's just so well done. I should see the original though. Because I like it I looked it up. Did you know it was the 5th lowest grossing movie of 2010? That made me proud.

Funnily enough, I've been tracking my movie watching on IMDb since 2003, so I have around 1400 rankings on file. They sometimes change over time, of course, but I've got a quick and easy way to remember my favorite movies.

Nothing will dethrone The English Patient though, I don't think.

Shine is near the very top for me. It's been years since I watched The English Patient and should probably check it out again. I remember liking Juliette Binoche quite a bit in that one.
