Sonnet for

I used to think of you in grandiose,
dramatic metaphors of character
and say how you resembled one of those
great sinning antique ladies whose allure
immortalized them in the history
of lust and floozy-hoodlike Jezebel
or Thais, mistresses of harlotry;
Delilah, Cleopatra, casting spells
that swayed empires and emperors; one who
resembled Messalina, so hardcore
she demonstrated how she could out-screw,
in a competition, Rome’s number-one whore.
But you were merely lewd and, to be frank,
no more than just an average little skank.
