I’m going to live online when I get old.
I hope the nursing homes all have high-speed
connections, wireless Internet, e-mail
with good spam-blockers, and RSS feed.
At last, I’ll have uninterrupted hours
to read the boards, to roam the blogosphere,
a password as my passport, an ID
for every portal in the new frontier.
And this is all the immortality
I wish for: On the far side of the screen,
I’ll leave my electronic fingerprints
so that at last, part of me might, unseen,
slip through some cyber-door that’s left ajar
and live forever through my avatar.
