New Online Paying Humor Journal
Hi all,
I saw this posted on reddit.
Getting a confirmation that they were, indeed, interested in humorous/light verse, I went to their submission page and then came here.
I hope it can be of use to someone.

Er...
"Here is everything you need to know...in bullet form. For idiots.
These are the rules to follow to guarantee your shit will get through to someone here.
All work should be humorous. We encourage authors and artists to be caustic and offensive. We also encourage them to submit caustic and offensive work. But being uncivil is not a requirement. Just be fucking funny.
Here the funniest shit wins."
They obviously don't take themselves seriously. Sorry, but neither do I.

It looks like Michael was trying to refer us to that language without actually putting it on the board. That was considerate of him.
I'm going to move this to General Announcements, with a redirect. GA, or else Pub, is really a better place for calls for subs.

I apologise if my blurting it out was deemed to be inconsiderate, Maryann.
I appreciate the thought behind posting the news, BUT...

It sounds like it's edited by the seventh, eighth and ninth funniest kids in the Senior class.

Michael C--
Yeah, I know--but they're *trying* to be funny.
And as they say they are paying, I thought I'd let folks who write such verse (not me) know about it.
Best,
Michael

Anyone is free to make fun of me on this little topic. I expect it by now. However, that's an interesting (to me) mathematical progression you have there, Cantor. Or at least semi-interesting. Cheers.

I don't understand what makes it "considerate." We're given a link to the same "offensive" language with no warning that we'll find it, so those of us who would topple over in a dead swoon to hear the f-word used as a slang intensifier were destined to hit the ground in any event.
It seems like an odd venture. It's pretty nicely laid out, and has all the trappings of a real zine, yet it's hard to trust the editor's opinion on humor if he still feels that it's inherently funny to use curse words. I've got nothing against curse words myself, mind you, but when someone seems to think he's being clever and sophisticated merely for using them, that's when I wonder about his credentials as a humorist.

Reading the "About" page, I thought maybe it was Quincy moonlighting at a place he didn't have to use #¤%&.
(Just kidding you, Quincy. The devil made me do it.)

You're right about the progression, Allen. The product of 7, 8 and 9 is 504; the sum of the three numbers is 24; and 504 divided by 24 is 21 - Alexander's age when he subdued Greece. Good sleuthing.
(Alternately, consider that I originally wrote "fourth, fifth and sixth", but decided that I needed a two-syllable ordinal in there for rhythm. "Second" was better than those characters deserved, and the only other possibility was "seventh". In retrospect, I'd change it to "sixth, seventh and eighth" - I think that sounds better - but I'm trying to stop compulsively tweaking my yuk-a-puk posts.)
