Default FLASH FESTIVAL at Erato, 27-31 Aug

Nina Schuyler (our guest last year) will be with us from Saturday 27th August to participate in a feast of Flash Fiction.

Any Flashes submitted to the Fiction Forum in the 27th-31st period will be treated as entries to an informal competition. Feel free to comment on them as usual. I'll announce the results early in September

We'll post some "Flash Prompts" each day to prod your imagination. Last year's event grew as the week progressed, producing a fine crop of pieces. I hope it'll be the same this year. There's no formal limit on word-length or number of submissions - use your common sense!

Flash Fiction remains popular and is making inroads into non-Flash venues. The discipline it imposes is useful whatever length of story you write. I hope you'll find the week profitable.

Will this flash fest be the same as last year's, where Nina offered prompts, and those were (generally) used for the "competition"? Or should we submit flash pieces we've already drafted?

Thanks,
Marybeth

Nina or I, yes. The announcement in the Fiction Forum included the following sentence, which I've now added to the announcement in this thread. "We'll post some "Flash Prompts" each day to prod your imagination"

Thanks, Tim. If circumstances allow, I hope to participate.
