Hi everyone,
Thought this group would like to know that Verse Wisconsin is soliciting poems in form for our spring online issue. Deadline November 1. No connections to WI necessary. : )
Call pasted below, with link.
Hope to hear from you,
Sarah
Reading September 1-November 1 for VW Online (Winter 2011)-Poems in Forms: Inspired by Michael Kriesel's encyclopedia of forms & formalists in Wisconsin (forthcoming in VWOnline late September) we're calling for "poems in forms." We're interested in everything from sonnets and villanelles to abecedariums and nonce forms (the kind you make up for a particular poem). And we're interested in everyone, from the die-hard old-school formalist to the newbie who's intrigued to try something different. Play! Send us your formal poems. AND a brief (or not-so-brief) prose statement about the writing of the poem. How and why did you choose this particular form? Did you run into difficulties? Surprises? How did the use of form affect the writing process for you? Remember: "formal" doesn't mean old-fashioned or archaic! We'll be looking for conversational and/or cutting edge.
