New Book
I ordinarily wouldn't mention it for a bit, but since it's a lot cheaper to preorder now, I feel compelled to mention that you can save almost five bucks if you preorder my new book on Amazon for a mere ten bucks and change.
It's my translation of Tibullus' elegies, a strange book indeed that influenced western love poetry via Petrarch (we might not have the text at all today but for Petrarch). The noted Tibullus scholar Robert Maltby did the intro and the notes.
It's part of the World Classics Series of Oxford University Press, which is their answer to Penguin--except that Oxford is better because it has the facing Latin. It's available in the UK on January 12 (in time for Valentine's Day if you want to send someone a classic of failed amorous pursuits) and in the US in early March.

I'll get it for sure. Another book I would probably not have heard about except for Eratosphere.
An impressive accomplishment. Hearty congratulations for the publication.

Great news indeed, Michael. Many congratulations! - this will surely be the definitive Tibullus.

I've always felt that poor Tibullus has been ill-served over the centuries. Michael, thanks for all the hard work and bringing a fresh perspective on a fine poet. Now let's hope the Latin text book people (Wheelock, Ecce Romani) will see fit to open the gates to some fresh material with help from M. Juster's translations and expand the textbook field to include more than simply Virgil and Horace and Catullus and Martial
.

I don't know Tibullus from Tin Tin, Michael. So I actually need your book.
Congrats,
Rick
