Default Prairie Pulse

I just taped my first show for Prairie Public TV in a long time, maybe ten years. My former interlocutor is now producer, and he wrote the questions for my airbrushed younger anchorman. The half hour interview/reading will be broadcast March 30 all over the Northern High Plains, including Canada, and I'll put up a link to the internet. They say I did good.

Raymond Squares, a poet and publisher in Minneapolis, tracked me down last week to see if I'd contribute to an anthology of Midwestern gay poets. It's to be unpublished work, of which I have very little, but he took five pages of poems.

Les Murray, of Australia's Quadrant, just shot down in flames my latest submission: "There's more shooting and blood in there than our readers will tolerate."

Thanks Cyn. I'll post the link on March 30. Two more developments yesterday. I've been asked to read at Hillsdale's new Kirby Center in DC, the day before West Chester, where Mike Juster and Dana Gioia have preceded me, my first DC reading in eight years. Kim Bridgford confirms that we'll have a scholarly panel on Sullivan at WCU on the Friday of the conference. Catherine Tufariello will chair; Cathy Chandler, John Beaton, Sam Gwynn and I will participate. We will discuss Alan's original verse and his translations of the Beowulf and the poems of King David. I expect to have the David book available for attendees, and of course we will discuss his seminal role at the Eratosphere.

WCU update, Cathy Chandler's father is gravely ill, this after the death of her mother last year, so prayers are appreciated. She will be unable to participate, and Aaron Poochigian is taking her place. Aaron started working with Alan at age nineteen, so he will bring a unique perspective to the panel.
