Fat is Good
I hope you have all seen the American Health Report that tells us people with a body/mass index of 30-35 i.e. fat people, live 5% longer than their skinny contemporaries. Told you so. And mine's a full English Breakfast please with fried bread and black pudding.

For every statistic that justifies what one is already doing, there is another to justify what another is already doing. Ah, brave new old lazy world in statistical balance.

Nemo- agreed. There is no specific recipe for long life or best body weight. My mother would have died years earlier than she did (from her cancer) if she hadn't had any weight to spare. My cousin died in his forties primarily because of obesity. Mostly, I just don't listen to medical advice (or popular culture), it will steer your in the wrong direction most of the time.

I remember once in the 1990s, David Letterman did a TopTen list of best selling books in the year 2000. One of them was Oat Bran: The Silent Killer. Every other month some study comes out that coffee or red wine is good for you, only to contradicted in the following month. I think a good plan is: everything in moderation, including moderation.

I don't know about you, but red wine does me a lot of good. And twenty year old single malt whisky does me even more. You can send me a bottle any time.

Kentucky straight Bourbon for me please. A little Wild Turkey to wash down the bran muffin.

I knew my day would come. As the song says:
I don't give a hoot
About yogurt and fruit,
I'll eat black forest gateaux and die.

Didn't seem to work for poor Robert Greene.
I'm hoping, however, that it works for me...

I've never been fat (a bit overweight, yes,) but I lost over 20lbs last year and prefer being slimmer. I'd be slimmer still without the wine, the champagne, the curries, the bacon sandwiches...
... but life wouldn't be half as much fun!

I'll refer to the great Willie Dixon by way of the even greater Howlin' Wolf -- "I'm built for comfort, I ain't built for speed."
