From the New York Times New York City, a poem
Thank god it wasn't Selfie Weiner, says a relieved voice in Europe!
Ramya Ramana, the New York City youth poet laureate, delivered the poem “New York City” at Mayor Bill de Blasio’s inauguration ceremony.

Well, it's not how I would do it, but you have to give her credit for verve, poise, addressing the moment, and flashes of connection with her audience. It had some cringe-worthy moments too, but on the whole I thought it was much better than the efforts of laureates at Presidential inaugurations since the first one (Frost at Kennedy's).

What Michael and Nemo said. Sure, it was over the top at times, but if you can't do that when you're eighteen, when can you? Considering the event as well as the poet, I think it was a fine poem.
