Meanwhile, back in Stoke Poges...
Today August 5th is the anniversary of Thomas Gray's burial, and the results are in for the Stoke Poges Society's Thomas Gray Anniversary Poetry Competition for 2014.
Our Martin Elster wins the first prize of 250 pounds for his poem "Walking with the Birds and Bones in Fairview Cemetery".
Among the 6 honorable mentions (30 pounds each) are Mary McLean, John Beaton, & me.

This is great news, Gail. I'm SO delighted that Martin has won, and congratulations to you, too, and also to Mary and John.
I'm going to the Prize-giving evening at Stoke Poges on September 18th. Really looking forward to it!
