Default Goreyesque

Just in time for Halloween, I’m delighted to find myself rubbing shoulders with the madly pararhyming Martin Elster in Goreyesque. Nearby you’ll find a ghastly but funny piece by Cheryl McPhilimy, whose work I’ll be looking for from now on.

A tidy home for poems that like to wink or skulk in the dark, Goreyesque features work “inspired by the spirit and aesthetic of Edward Gorey.”

Best,

Ed

Thanks, Ed. I got a kick out of your mythical animals. I very much enjoyed Cheryl McPhilimy’s poem, too, as well as Sam Kuban’s.

Congratulations Ed and Martin. I'm blaming you (and Cheryl McPhilimy) if I can't sleep tonight

Thanks, all. I'm glad Goreyesque set up shop, with its focus on "darkly light" verse, to borrow a phrase from Rick Mullin, and its non-aversion to rhyme. A place that's more Jack Skellington than Santa Claus. I look forward to seeing the ghoulish sides of some of you in future issues.

Best,

Ed
