This information has been on the WCU website for months, Sam, and indeed I drew attention to it in this blog post from July 29.

Is there something else, perhaps, that you are planning to announce?

In all fairness, Anna, I believe Sam simply wanted Sphere members to be reminded of the dates (how many other Sphere posters keep bumping up, for example, the dates of their upcoming readings/launches ?) and also to let Sphere members know that the WCU Poetry Conference website (which we all know leaves a lot to be desired at the moment) will, in fact, be updated soon.

I attended the inaugural PBTS conference in May. It was great. What happened to Kim was terrible. But IMHO we should keep an open mind about WCU and see what they have to offer as well. If I had the $ I'd attend them all, including Writing the Rockies!

Yes... I can possibly get travel funding for the West Chester conference, and the dates work well for me...whereas I'll already be out of town when Poetry by the Sea is being held. I'd like to attend or present at one poetry conference if possible, for professionalization purposes, and despite the completely legitimate outrage about the situation with Kim last year, I don't think it's in my best interests to boycott a potentially rewarding conference opportunity.

I believe Sam has a deeper motive than just bumping the dates, Cathy, which should become clear WHEN the WCU website is updated.

Personally I believe that what WCU did to Kim was so egregiously unfair and damaging that I could not bear to attend a conference there ever again.

But naturally everyone must make their own decisions and let conscience be their guide.

I'm increasingly leaning toward staying home. More or less all the time. Yeah, I'll have to leave home for food. And work. And beer. And replenishing my black hair dye supply. But other than that, being a shut-in sounds increasingly attractive.

Quincy, just be sure you don't become a shut-in before you've finished spreading the word about Dark Lord of the Tiki Bar. You could end up with a case of "Insomniac Lace-Curtain Shitkicker Blues."
