I stumbled on this today and thought it post-worthy. I may be the last to hear of this theory, but I find it so outlandishly sensible that I’m going to adopt it until another comes along that glitters brighter : )

Ha. Seems plausible enough to me! I do suspect psychedelics are intrinsically linked to our humanity and their impact on myth and religion is probably hard to overestimate. I think they're still undervalued, misrepresented and misunderstood, though that could be changing with recent research on how hugely effective they can be on treating depression.
