Has anybody ever purchased from them? Are they reliable? They have some CDs I'm coveting. Wilbur, Merrill, Levine...
For those not familiar with this site, www.poets.org (affiliated with The Academy of American Poets, whoever they are), they have poems, essays, and audio & video files, plus some books and CDs for sale. Worth a look.

No, no. poets.org is affiliated with the Academy of American Poets (a very prestigious organization). You've posted the link to poetry.org, a completely separate thing.

cripes!
I could have sworn I typed "poets" not "poetry". Fixed now.
"poetry.org", if I remember, is the earthly incarnation of evil.

Brian:
For what it's worth, in the years that I've been a member and, later, a moderator on their critical venue I've always known the A.A.P. people to be reliable, prompt, courteous and professional.

Yes, I've purchased some cassettes from them. The audio quality is generally good, but the poets are inconsistent. Some apparently don't care. Too bad.

I have, too, and would agree with Bob. Doubt I will make another purchase there.

Thanks Colin, I hadn't noticed there was a discussion forum attached to the site.
Thanks Robert, Pat -- perhaps I won't go on a spending spree then (just as well). They do provide a sample track from each CD, and I noticed some of them sound a bit casual. But I'm going to get the Merrill CD for sure.

Oh, that's fine Brian. I got mine before I used the internet. I like "a bit casual." You're kind.
Thanks for the heads up. I can spook around among the samples.

Brief follow up: the order I placed took about two weeks to arrive, which is about the same wait as any online book purchases I've made.
The Ashberry CD is quite fun. I've never liked anything I've read by him in anthologies, but the audio excerpt provided on the site ( My Philosophy of Life) intrigued me.
The Merrill CD is predictably good, though the Random House Audio Voice of the Poets recording is much superior. The selection for the AOAP recording is a bit lightweight. My only real objection is having to listen to the inane guffaws of the audience. Tell me, is this "LOL"?: Amen. The casket like a spaceship bears her

Necropolis is a nice place to visit;
One would not want to live there all year round. (Is there a word for "laughing to prove you are awake and paying attention"?) (Or am I just deficient in the sense of humour department?)
